Degrees:
Ph. D., U. of North Carolina, Marine Sciences 1994
M.S., Utah State University, Geology 1985
B.S., Bemidji State University, Magna Cum Laude, Geology 1981
Academic Interests and Accomplishments:
Dr. Boss is interested in the application of high-resolution geophysical methods to document and interpret the depositional geometry, stratigraphy, and regional geologic history of lakes, coastal regions, sedimentary basins, continental margins, and carbonate platforms. Of particular interest in these studies is the identification, mapping, and geomorphological interpretation of prominent stratal boundaries (sequence and parasequence boundaries) in three dimensions. To accomplish these tasks, data derived from geophysical surveys are merged within Geographic Information System software and displayed using a variety of 3-D imaging techniques.
